And by the way, with limited kissing of strangers this year, spare a thought for the mistletoe farmers.

Certainly one of the lesser-devastating themes of 2020 has to be "Karen you're still on mute." The SKNapp tribe Zoomed nearly each week from March through to our final SKNapp Rap of the year last week. It's been part support group, part newsreel, thought-provoking, never controversial, sometimes entertaining, and always encouraging. The sessions are not recorded and we never talk pricing or strategy. Purely a space to openly rant and rap! SKNapp Consulting clients and colleagues, past and present, have been welcome. I'll continue it in '21 on a twice-monthly basis, ping me here if you'd like to join in.

Have you read "Meditations In An Emergency" by Frank O'Hara? It's a collection of poems and mantras to cope with messy chaotic life in New York City, first published in 1957. It remains relevant several decades later. My own meditations during chaos, crisis and required escapism are a bit different: I am not amidst a global pandemic. Breathe in. Breathe out. The Hospitality Industry is fine and strong. Breathe in. I am having High Tea at The Savoy. Breathe out. I am relaxing in a mud pool in Hamurana Zealand. Exhale. I am sipping Shiraz at the O&O Wolgan Valley. Repeat. Give it a go. Works a treat. In January I'll be publishing the SKNapp Consulting 2021 calendar including a training workshop series in partnerships with Tourism Accommodation Australia and also with SiteMinder. We're also planning a regional Australia roadshow (conditions permitting!🚙) with HSMAI. There will be face-to-socially-distant-face workshops in venues where possible, as well as hybrid meetings and remote via Zoom, Teams, and Google Meets. (Incidentally, shame that Skype got left in the dust of the storm surge of remote working! I guess Skype will join Clippy in software Heaven now.)
